Review: Reissued once more on CD for fans still waiting to get their hands on a copy, The Royal Scam is the fifth studio album by American rock band Steely Dan. Representing their outward movement into more conceptual underpinnings, the album incorporated expansive jazz and funk influences here, all littering the album with myriad, disparate references to various historical figures and events. Most notably, SD reveal an obsession with Owsley Stanley - the cult figure and notorious clandestine chemist whose secret manufacturing efforts produced the vast bulk of LSD still on the global market today - as well as other prehistoric and arcane references.
