A CLASSIC SHOW FROM THE START OF THE NEW MILLENNIUM

The end of the last millennium was a chaotic time for Foo Fighters. Following Pat Smears’ departure in early 1997, his replacement, Franz Stahl, joined, but after it emerged he could not form a successful writing partnership with Grohl, Stahl was out again by ‘98. Next up, bass player Nate Mendel announced his resignation, but soon re-joined. The band’s album, There Is Nothing Left to Lose, recorded in Dave Grohl's home studio in Virginia, was released world-wide on November 2nd 1999, and was seen as something of a departure from earlier work, presenting a softer, more song-derived collection. • In late 1999, the There Is Nothing Left To Lose Tour began and ran throughout 2000 and into 2001, during which time the group took in four continents. By late January 2000 – at the beginning of the new century – the Foos were in Australia, where they headlined the Big Day Out Festival in Sydney on 26th. Playing a quite startling set, this CD features the full broadcast recording of their performance at this classic event.
