From February 1961, Bob Dylan played at clubs around Greenwich Village, befriending and picking up material from folk singers there, including
Dave Van Ronk, Fred Neil, Odetta, the New Lost City Ramblers and Irish musicians the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem.

• In September, Dylan played harmonica on folk singer Carolyn Hester's third album, bringing him to the attention of the album's
producer John Hammond, who signed Dylan to Columbia Records. Dylan's first album, Bob Dylan, released March 19, 1962,
consisted of familiar folk, blues and gospel with just two original compositions. The album sold 5,000 copies in its first year, just
enough to break even.
• Across this period, Dylan performed for many radio stations, recording live sessions that were later broadcast. These included sports
for Oscar Brandt, Jimmy Faier, Cynthia Gooding and a host of other presenters. The set also includes early live performances Bob
recorded in Canada and at the McKenzie’s apartment in New York.
• Featuring 3 CDs choc-full of early Dylan recordings, this set will prove a delight for Bob Dylan’s millions of fans still flying the flag for
