STUNNING 1981 SHOW FROM A NEWLY INSPIRED BANSHEES
By the beginning of 1981, Siouxsie and The Banshees had released three albums to date, and were planning their fourth. Recorded at Surrey Sound studio with Nigel Gray as co-producer, Juju was released on 19 June ‘81. Featuring new guitarist John McGeoch – formerly of Magazine – the album met with much critical acclaim, notably for McGeoch’s un-orthodox playing and Siouxsie’s evercreative vocals. Later deemed a classic of post-punk, in 1995, Melody Maker writer Cathi Unsworth described Juju as "one of the most influential British albums ever". • The Banshees had been performing cuts from the new record live since February ’81, and by March they were in the full throes of a major UK and European tour. Among the finest gig the band played during this jaunt was on 7th July, when they headlined at De Nieuwe Kade, in Tiel, the Netherlands. • Recorded for live radio broadcast across much of mainland Europe, the show was a dynamic performance and is still remembered by many early fans as a milestone event. This new CD now features this remarkable live performance for the first time on CD. Bonus cuts here come from the Banshees equally strong concert, a couple of months before while still touring in the UK, when they played at Warwick University on 7th March
