The Faith Tour, George Michael’s first solo concert tour, was launched in support of his multi-million selling debut solo album Faith.
The tour spanned nine months between February and October 1988 with three final shows in the summer of 1989, comprising 109
shows across sixteen countries in all.
-
Choreographed by Paula Abdul, the tour started at Tokyo's Budokan indoor arena in February, and ended at Pensacola Civic Center
in Florida. Most of the set list was from the Faith album, with a couple of older Wham! numbers in the mix too. Michael also paid tribute to artists by whom he had been influenced, such as Labelle (with Lady Marmalade), Wild Cherry (Play That Funky Music) and Stevie Wonder (Love's in Need of Love Today).
-
Among the tour’s finest and best loved shows was performed at Paris’s Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy on 31st May, ’88, a concertwhich was recorded for live radio broadcast around the greater Paris area, and which was synched too across stations in the US.
