Formed in Des Moines, Iowa in 1995 by percussionist Shawn Crahan, drummer Joey Jordison and bassist Paul Gray, Slipknot is best known for its attention-grabbing image, aggressive style of music, and energetic and chaotic live shows. The band rapidly rose to fame following the release of their eponymous debut album in 1999. Work on the album concluded in early 1999, allowing the band to go on their first tour as part of the 1999 Ozzfest line-up. • Ozzfest greatly increased Slipknot's audience, furthering the band's success with their album that was released on June 29, 1999. While singles from the record received some airplay, Slipknot quickly developed a large following, mainly from touring and word of mouth. • In 2000, the band played at The Dynamo Festival in the Netherlands, supporting Iron Maiden and Korn at the one-day event on June 3rd. The whole event was recorded for live FM radio broadcast, and Slipknot’s set remains among the day’s highlights. • Previously unreleased, this remarkable recording is now available on this new CD, proving - if it were in any doubt - that at this early stage of their career, Slipknot were already the extraordinary, unorthodox and, some might say, fearsome act they continue to be to this very day.
