STUNNING BROADCAST PERFORMANCE AT KROQ’S ANNUAL SHINDIG

The KROQ Weenie Roast is a multi-artist music concert, presented annually in May by KROQ, the Los Angeles, modern rock radio station. Since its beginning in 1993, it has been traditionally held on a Saturday in May or June, and has taken place every year to date, except 2020. • Having traditionally taken place at Irvine Meadows/Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre, in Irvine, California, in 2000 when it was held at the Angel Stadium, then-known as the Edison International Field, in Anaheim, California, for unknown reasons. In 2016 Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre was demolished, and KROQ responded by announcing that the 2017 edition would take place at StubHub Center in Carson. • 2020 marked the first time since its inception in 1993 that the KROQ Weenie Roast didn't take place. The festival will reportedly return in 2021. • Metallica’s only appearance to date at ‘The Roast’ took place in 2012 when the band headlined the main-stage; also appearing that year were The Offspring, Bad Religion and the Raconteurs, among others, and remains the most successful of the shows to date, with tickets selling out in, reputedly, 45 minutes. • The anticipation was well deserved too, as Metallica performed a quite extraordinary set featuring cuts from their entire career to date. The show however has remained unreleased on CD until now, when this disc contains the complete set Metallica played that day, now more than eight years ago.
