Despite ABBA’s lack of interest in touring, pressure from their record company grew towards the end of the decade, and they soon felt the need to validate themselves to the press by committing to a world tour. ABBA: The Tour began a few months after the release of Voulez-Vous in Canada on 13th September 1979, and consisted of 52 shows in 40 cities across 13 countries. The tour would later be revered as an all-time classic, despite the group’s apparent dislike of touring conditions. It culminated in an 11-date run in Japan the following year, including six nights in Tokyo throughout the month of March.
