OVERVIEW
Us, released in 1992, was a deeply personal and experimental album, reflecting Gabriel's emotional journey through themes of
love, loss, and self-discovery. Unlike its predecessor So, which had a more pop-oriented sound, Us was more introspective and
experimental, blending art rock with elements of world music and electronic textures. The album was recorded over several
years in various locations, including Gabriel’s own Real World Studios, and featured a diverse array of collaborators, such as
Sinead O'Connor, Brian Eno, and Tony Levin. The album produced hit singles like "Digging in the Dirt" and "Steam," both of which
charted successfully. However, it was the raw emotional depth and layered production that made Us a critical and artistic
triumph.
To promote Us, Gabriel embarked on the Secret World Tour in 1993, one of the most ambitious and immersive tours of his
career. Known for its elaborate and theatrical production – including two performance stages linked by a moving runway, a large
rotating video screen, and two trapdoors with lifts – the show incorporated a unique visual narrative, with Gabriel employing
cutting-edge technology to create a fully immersive experience for the audience. The set was exceedingly complex but added a
magnificent visual element to the tour that stunned all who saw it.
• On 29th September 1993, Peter Gabriel’s Secret World Tour made a stop in Santiago, Chile, at the Estadio
Nacional, delivering a sensational performance that would become a defining night of the tour. The show
was special for its intimate atmosphere, with Gabriel connecting deeply with the Chilean audience. Also
broadcast on local radio, the show was a rousing success that left a lasting impression on all those who
attended. The entire performance is now available for all to hear on this new CD, offering fans across the
world a chance to hear Peter Gabriel at his best.
