First solo album by Ronnie Leatherman – bassist with the classic line-up of The 13th Floor Elevators - who had the distinction of playing on all three of the band’s studio albums. While Old School is essentially a new recording made in Austin Texas, Ronnie has been performing many of the cover songs, by J.J Cale and Johnny Cash etc. With various combos of friends since they were first released. His most significant ‘friends’ who appear on this album include Paul Tennison (RIP 2023) and Terry Penny, who both at times deputised with incarnations of The 13th Floor Elevators. In addition, there are several original titles by Ronnie including ‘Coming Day’ written in 1968 but not included on the Elevators final LP - Bull Of The Woods. The Old friend silhouetted on the back cover, is his Klira bass guitar, acquired in San Francisco in 1966 whilst touring with the Elevators
