OVERVIEW
Formed in Abingdon, Oxfordshire during the mid-1980s, Radiohead emerged from a school friendship between
Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, Colin Greenwood, Ed O’Brien and Philip Selway. Originally performing under the
name On A Friday, the group developed their sound through years of rehearsals, local gigs and growing musical
ambition before signing to EMI in the early 1990s and adopting the name Radiohead, inspired by the Talking Heads
song. Combining introspective songwriting with adventurous guitar textures and emotional intensity, the band
quickly distinguished themselves from their contemporaries, laying the foundations for one of the most influential
careers in modern music.
The release of Pablo Honey in 1993 introduced Radiohead to an international audience, driven by the unexpected
success of “Creep”, while 1995’s critically acclaimed The Bends revealed a far more expansive and emotionally
sophisticated group. Around this period, Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood in particular undertook a series of
intimate promotional appearances and acoustic sessions to support the album, stripping the songs back to their bare
essentials. Performing material drawn from The Bends alongside earlier songs and then-unreleased future favourites
still taking shape, these recordings captured the duo in a raw and immediate setting far removed from the scale of
the band’s increasingly powerful live shows.

• Collected together, the performances on this CD present Radiohead at their most exposed and intimate,
offering rare alternate versions, sparse acoustic arrangements and revealing reinterpretations of familiar
material.
• Freed from the dense production and layered instrumentation of the studio recordings, the songs take on a
different character entirely, highlighting the strength of the songwriting and the emotional weight at the
heart of the music.
• For longtime fans and newcomers alike, these recordings provide a fascinating glimpse into a pivotal era in
Radiohead’s evolution.
• Not for sale to GAS (Germany, Austria, Switzerland)
