John Coltrane is still one of the most outstanding saxophonists in jazz music. In the be-ginning he played only alto saxophone, from the early 1950s almost exclusively tenor and from 1960 also soprano saxophone. His innovations and inspired playing had a lasting influence on the jazz world. He recorded his legendary album "Blue Train“ for the Blue Note label and set new standards.
