JAPANESE BROADCAST RECORDING 1986
By 1986, Metallica had gained a fearsome reputation for performing fast, aggressive, thrash metal, but still continued to stun audiences worldwide. Following the tragic death of bassist Cliff Burton in a bus crash on 27th September, many believed the band would break-up. However, with the blessing of Burton’s family, Metallica soldiered on, enlisting Jason Newsted as his replacement. More impressively, the band resumed touring again just over a month later, when they played the Country Club in Reseda, California on 8th November. • In Mid-November, the group flew to Asia for four shows in Japan, the second of which, performed at Nagoya’s Cultural Hall, was just the fourth that Newsted had been a part of. A dynamic gig, the entire event was recorded for live radio transmission across Japan and synched on many US stations too. Previously unavailable, this magical concert is now released for the first time on this superb CD.
