SUPERB TRIPLE DISC SET COMPILING THE FINEST LIVE RECORDINGS BY PHIL LYNOTT & THIN LIZZY

Formed in Dublin in 1969, Thin Lizzy’s music reflects a wide range of influences, including blues, soul, psychedelic rock, and traditional Irish folk music, but is generally classified as hard rock. • Two of the founding members, drummer Brian Downey and bass guitarist and lead vocalist Phil Lynott, met while still in school. Lynott led the group throughout their recording career of twelve studio albums, writing most of the material. The singles ‘Whiskey in the Jar’ (a traditional Irish ballad), ‘The Boys Are Back in Town’ and ‘Waiting for an Alibi’ were all international hits. After Lynott's death in 1986, various incarnations of the band emerged over the years based initially around guitarists Scott Gorham and John Sykes, though Sykes left the band in 2009. • Among the most significant British Isles rock bands of the 1970s and 1980s, Lizzy produced some of the most popular and accessible rock music around during their initial 15-year career. This 3CD set celebrates and collates Thin Lizzy’s finest live recordings made during this time, all of which come from live FM radio broadcasts. • Starting on DISC ONE with Lizzy’s incredible show recorded at Chicago’s Riviera Theatre on April 21st 1976, less than a month after the release of their Jailbreak album, this concert took place just as the band were making a name for themselves in the US. Continuing on DISC TWO, this disc features the Thin Lizzy gig which took place about 18 months later at Philadelphia’s Capitol Theater, on October 20th 1977, soon following the band’s Bad Reputation release. • This delightful set culminated on DISC THREE with a concert by Phil Lynott’s side group Glam Slam recorded at Ladbrokes Holiday Village in England’s Great Yarmouth, on 12th October 1984.
