DELIGHTFUL 1977 CONCERT BY THE CHICKEN SKIN BAND
Chicken Skin Music, Ry Cooder’s fifth studio album, released in 1976, featured a delicious mix of Tex-Mex and Hawaiian sounds, performed by an extraordinary line-up of musicians which included Bobby King, Jim Keltner, Flaco Jiminez, Chris Etheridge, Russ Titelman and numerous other top-players • Following the record’s release, the band went out on the road, and Cooder’s next album, Showtime, featured 2 gigs the group performed at San Francisco’s Great American Music Hall, on December 14th and 15th 1976. • The finest show of the tour however, as performed by The Chicken Skin band, came the following month, on 26th January 1977, at Hamburg, Germany’s Markthalle venue, where a quite superb concert was played by the group, which featured a cuts taken from all Cooder’s albums to date, but performed in true CSB style, which made for an exceptional event, that has rarely been bettered by Ry Cooder, throughout his career, now active for over 50 years.
