DESCRIPTION TRACK LIST
Few bands in rock history have matched the impact and legacy of Deep Purple. Formed in 1968, the group quickly established themselves as pioneers of hard rock and heavy metal, blending classical influences with progressive rock virtuosity. With landmark albums such as Machine Head (1972) and anthems like “Smoke on the Water”, Deep Purple earned global acclaim, multiple gold and platinum records, and eventual induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, cementing their status among the genre’s most influential acts.
Across the decades, Deep Purple evolved through a series of line-ups, famously categorised as the “Mark” eras. From the early psychedelic leanings of Mark I, through the definitive Mark II and III years featuring Ritchie Blackmore’s iconic guitar work, to the later reunions and reshuffles, the band continually adapted while maintaining their core identity. Blackmore’s second departure in 1993 marked the end of a significant chapter, leading to the emergence of Mark VII with Steve Morse stepping in and bringing a fresh perspective and technical brilliance to the fold.
The arrival of Morse sparked a creative resurgence, culminating in the release of Purpendicular in 1996. The album was both a critical and commercial success, praised for its adventurous songwriting and revitalised energy. Supporting the record, the band embarked on an extensive tour that showcased a reinvigorated Deep Purple, blending new material seamlessly with classic staples and proving their continued relevance on the world stage.
