Already stars in England, the Groundhogs embarked on their first US tour in June 1972. Just ahead of the first date, they performed this set for broadcast on WMC-FM radio at the legendary Ardent Recording Studio, Memphis, TN on June 8th. It finds them on exciting form, tearing through a cross-section of their best-loved material. Alas, their promotional and recording plans went awry later in the tour when Tony McPhee broke his wrist, leading to a radical overhaul of their musical approach and the disintegration of the existing line-up. As a result, this set is something of an epitaph to one of Britain’s most exciting ever power trios. It’s presented here with background notes and images
