DESCRIPTION TRACK LIST
Few bands emerged from the early 1990s alternative rock explosion with the distinctive sound and emotional resonance of The Cranberries. Formed in Limerick, Ireland, in 1989 by brothers Mike and Noel Hogan alongside drummer Fergal Lawler, the group initially performed as The Cranberry Saw Us before recruiting vocalist Dolores O'Riordan in 1990. O'Riordan's unmistakable voice, combined with the band's melodic blend of indie rock, dream pop and Celtic influences, quickly set them apart from their contemporaries. After attracting attention through a series of demos and securing a deal with Island Records, The Cranberries spent the next two years refining their sound before unveiling their debut album, Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?, in 1993.
Released in March 1993, Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We? initially met with only modest commercial success, but relentless touring and promotion gradually transformed the record into an international breakthrough. Throughout 1993, The Cranberries embarked on an intensive schedule of concerts, media appearances and promotional performances, building a devoted following across Europe and North America. By year's end, the album had become one of the defining debut releases of the decade, laying the foundations for the global success that would soon follow.
The highlight of this promotional run was the band's celebrated appearance on The Black Sessions, recorded in Paris on 3 May 1993 for the legendary radio programme hosted by Bernard Lenoir. Renowned for capturing artists in an intimate live setting at crucial moments in their careers, The Black Sessions provided the perfect showcase for The Cranberries' burgeoning talents. Performing with remarkable confidence and intensity, the group delivered powerful renditions of early favourites while offering an astonishing glimpse of the future with an embryonic version of "Zombie", more than a year before its official release. The session remains one of the finest documents of the band's early live prowess, balancing delicacy and power in equal measure
