CLASSIC MANSON BROADAST RECORDING FROM THE MECHANICAL ANIMALS TOUR

• Brian Hugh Warner and guitarist Scott "Daisy Berkowitz" Petoskey formed Marilyn Manson & The Spooky Kids in 1989. The name was

later shortened to Marilyn Manson. In 1993, the band drew the attention of Trent Reznor. Reznor produced their 1994 debut album, Portrait of an American Family and released it on his Nothing Records label. The band began to develop a cult following, which grew larger on the Downward Spiral Tour that featured Nine Inch Nails and Jim Rose Circus, and via the release of Smells Like Children EP in 1995, which featured Manson’s cover of the Eurythmics hit, ‘Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This’. Antichrist Superstar (co-produced by Trent Reznor) was an even greater success, debuting at No. 3 on the Billboard 200.

• 1998 saw the release of the band’s third studio album, Mechanical Animals. The record marked a major shift from the industrial metal and alternative styles of the band's earlier efforts, into an experimentation with 1970s glam, plus industrial and electronic rock styles. More commercially successful than its predecessor, the album debuted at No.1 in the US and acr0ss most of Europe too.

• The Mechanical Animals Tour began on 25th October ’98 in Kansas, and concluded on 31st January 1999 in Perth, Australia. According to most sources, among the finest dates on the tour was the group’s performance at Sydney, Australia’s Big Day Out festival on January 23rd ’99, at which Marilyn Manson put on a quite extraordinary show that was recorded for live FM Broadcast. Previously unreleased, the entire set they played that day is now available for the first time on this exceptional CD.
